DR. JOHN C. PETERSON

Dr. John Peterson is a board certified Family Practice M.D. practicing in Muncie, Indiana. He received a BA in biology from Grinnell College, Iowa, in 1970 and attended medical school at the University of Iowa College of Medicine.

He finished his Family Practice residency at

Ball Memorial Hospital in 1977 and started practicing medicine that year in Muncie. 

He has been interested in the Vedic tradition since learning the Transcendental Meditation®  technique in 1972. He completed the first Maharishi Ayurveda® physicians training program in 1985 and has studied extensively in this country with many great Ayurvedic physicians, including Dr. Triguna and Dr. Raju.

Dr. John is also a keyboard player and author of “The True Life Adventures of Captain Wa-Wah, Fifty Years of Music, Meditation and Politics.” (Katydid Press, 2009). You can see him playing music for the last night at Doc’s, the nightclub he had in Muncie for 20 years, in a Blu-ray film called, “Giving up the Ghosts, Closing Night at Doc’s Music Hall” (A 2015 Robert Mugge Film). 

VICKI PETERSON

Vicki met John in a “Future of Man” interdisciplinary seminar at Grinnell College

their senior year. She received her BA with honors in biology and did three years of

research in molecular genetics at the

University of Iowa Zoology Department

while he was in medical school.

 

Vicki has instructed over 600 people in the Transcendental Meditation technique since her teacher training course in La Antilla, Spain,

in 1973. She studied Maharishi Ayurveda in India with His Holiness Maharishi Mahesh Yogi and Ayurvedic medicinal herbal specialist, Balraj Maharishi, in 1986 and 1988. She’s been an Ayurvedic patient educator since taking the first Ayurveda course taught at Maharishi International University in January of 1984.

 

An experienced lecturer on both the TM® and Maharishi Ayurveda programs, Vicki has written alternative medicine articles for Indiana’s Branches magazine. She has attended many health professional conferences in Maharishi Ayurveda, including a two week Maharishi Vedic Approach to Health (SM) course  in

Albuquerque, New Mexico, in 1999.

 

Vicki is a certified teacher of the Transcendental Meditation program and teaches TM courses in Muncie several times a year. 

 

The Petersons have maintained a Maharishi Ayurveda consultation service in Dr. John’s regular allopathic medicine office since 1984 and use the principles of Ayurveda in their daily life. They have three grown children and three grandchildren who also enjoy Ayurveda.
